Economic Peace in the West Bank and the Fayyad Plan: Are They Working?

Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority Salam Fayyad wants to build the institutional foundations of a Palestinian state by 2011. Improved security in the West Bank, and Israel’s easing of some checkpoints, has boosted the effort by strengthening the West Bank’s economy. This Policy Brief asks whether this muted economic revival can be deepened and sustained in the absence of a peace agreement with Israel
or a unified Palestinian leadership.
