The 2012 Conference Keynote Luncheon, entitled "The Future of Democracy in Egypt," will be delivered by Naguib Sawiris, a prominent Egyptian philanthropist and businessman.   Sawiris is the executive chairman of the The Orascom Group, one of Egypt's most diversified conglomerates and the country's largest private sector employer.  He is also the vice-chair of the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, which empowers Egypt's citizens by encouraging job creation through training, education and access to microcredit. In the wake of the Egyptian revolution of January 2011, Mr. Sawiris founded the Free Egyptians Party, which promotes democratic values and pluralism in Egypt. Mr. Sawiris serves on numerous boards, including the International Advisory Committee to the NYSE Board of Directors and the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs. Mr. Sawiris is a Commandeur de la Légion d'Honneur and was awarded Commander of the Star of Italian Solidarity for his outstanding contribution to the Italian economy through his investments there. Mr. Sawiris holds a Diploma of Mechanical Engineering with a Masters in Technical Administration from the Swiss Institute of Technology and a Diploma from the German Evangelical School, Cairo, Egypt.
