Erica Vásquez is a Washington, D.C.-based researcher and activist focused on human rights, security, and gender in the Middle East and North Africa. She recently graduated from the Arab Studies Program at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, where she wrote a graduate thesis on the effects of military occupation on gender dynamics in the occupied territories of the Western Sahara. Her work at the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace, and Security focuses on women and girls in conflict zones and peace negotiations around the world. Most recently, she has worked with the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights on its Western Sahara portfolio.
