The Middle East Institute (MEI) seeks a full-time security & maintenance officer who will be responsible for the oversight MEI’s building and property, as well as facility operations. General duties may include completing checklist items, minor repairs, plumbing/electrical, snow removal, etc. Additionally, the candidate will perform duties as a security guard to protect the company’s premises, assets and personnel. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and technical knowledge to perform duties outlined below. This position will maintain a high visibility presence and prevent all illegal or inappropriate actions.  

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls, etc.

  • Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues

  • Install appliances and equipment

  • Do minor garden/yard upkeep

  • Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs

  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation)

  • Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm)

  • Monitor and control access at building entrances

  • Watch alarm systems or video cameras and operate detecting/emergency equipment

  • Assess against fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry by unauthorized persons

Experience

  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems

  • Experience using hand and electrical tools

  • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Proven work experience as a security guard or relevant position

  • Basic Knowledge of building and construction
