The Middle East Institute is pleased to welcome retired four-star General Anthony Zinni (Commander-in-Chief, CENTCOM, 1997-2000) for a discussion of his recent book, Before the First Shots are Fired: How America Can Win or Lose Off the Battlefield (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014).

In four decades of military service, Gen. Zinni witnessed firsthand the changing nature of modern war. Drawing on his vast experience, Zinni examines America's past military engagements and prescribes new ways of strategizing and planning for military action that can guarantee greater success.  After the discussion, General Zinni will sign copies of his book.
