3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Middle East Institute 1763 N St. NW Washington, DC 20036

Arts & Culture, Egypt

Few figures have done more to shape the world’s understanding of ancient Egypt than Dr. Zahi Hawass. In this conversation, the renowned Egyptologist will discuss the most exciting developments in Egyptian archaeology today. They include the recent opening of the largest museum ever built for a single civilization, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), a transformative moment for Egypt’s cultural legacy; the many excavations currently underway, including exploration deep inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu using advanced scanning technology and robotics; and his campaign to repatriate Egypt’s most iconic treasures — including the Bust of Nefertiti, and the Rosetta Stone. Please join MEI for this private invite-only event moderated by Kate Seelye, Vice President for Arts and Culture, Middle East Institute.

This conversation will be recorded and available for viewing on a future date.
