The Middle East is among the regions most devastated by climate change in the world. What are the human costs of rising temperatures, increased urbanization, pollution, and desertification? Given the severe humanitarian impact and economic crises climate change causes in the Middle East and North Africa, what pathways exist to combat its worst effects? How can sustainable development be supported by regional governments, the private sector, and the international community to avoid further climate conflict and displacement? This debut panel will kick off MEI Climate Week with a region-wide lens on the urgency of climate action.
