Dr. Dara Conduit is a non-resident scholar in the Middle East Institute’s Syria program. She has been working as a research fellow within the Middle East Studies Forum at Deakin University’s Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation since 2016, where she is involved in a number of projects related to authoritarianism, contentious politics and violence in Syria. Her academic work has been widely published in journals including Democratization, Studies in Conflict and Terrorism and The Middle East Journal, and her book, The Muslim Brotherhood in Syria, was published by Cambridge University Press in 2019. Dara is a regular media commentator and her work has been cited in UN reports. She is co-convenor of the women Middle East researchers in Australia network (WoMENA).
