Omar Al-Rafie was a Brigadier in the Jordanian Public Security Directorate, with over 35 years of work experience in government, private sector and international organizations. He served in the Public Security Directorate (PSD) leading multiple directorates including the Directorate of planning and organization. In 1997, Mr. Al-Rafie was seconded by the PSD to the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation for 10 years where he managed two major Jordanian government programs; The Social Productivity Program and The Enhanced Productivity Programme. In 2008 he became the Director of the Hashemite Fund for the Development of the Jordan Badia. Since 2013, Mr. Al-Rafie has been working with international organizations in development, policing and security projects. Work included training the Community Police in Syrian refugee camps in Jordan, as well as organizational development of security and community policing agencies outside Jordan. He is currently working on his PhD research in the University of Bath, UK, on the subject of Community Policing.
