On Monday, September 10, 2018, the Middle East Institute (MEI) hosted a roundtable with professors and members of the National Defense University of Iraq to discuss ways to strengthen political and economic reform in Iraq. The delegation was joined by MEI's acting president Paul Salem; Randa Slim, director of Conflict Resolution and Track II Dialogues Program; Bilal Saab, director of the Defense and Security program; Charles Lister, director of the Extremism and Counterterrorism program; and Ahmad Majidyar, director of IranObserved project. The two sides discussed way to strengthen Iraq's economy and stabilize its government.
