Nathan J. Brown is a professor of political science and international affairs at George Washington University and a recipient of Fulbright grants to study in Egypt and the Gulf and teach in Israel. He is also a nonresident senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He is the author of Arguing Islam after the Revival of Arab Politics (Oxford University Press, 2016) and When Victory is Not an Option: Islamist Movements in Arab Politics (Cornell Univ. Press, January 2012), among other publications. Dr. Brown received his B.A. in political science from the University of Chicago and his M.A. and Ph.D. in politics and Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University. His dissertation received the Malcolm Kerr award from the Middle East Studies Association in 1987.
