Jason H. CampbellWashington, DC, May 19, 2025 — The Middle East Institute (MEI) is proud to announce the appointment of Jason H. Campbell as a Senior Fellow.

Dr. Campbell brings deep expertise in defense policy and regional security. He previously served as a senior policy researcher at the RAND Corporation, where he focused on international security, geopolitics, and foreign policy. From June 2016 through September 2018, he served as country director for Afghanistan in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Policy. Before that, he was a researcher at the Brookings Institution, where he co-authored The Iraq Index and launched the Afghanistan Index and Pakistan Index projects. Campbell holds a PhD in War Studies from King’s College London, an MA in International Affairs from Catholic University, and a BA in Political Science and German from Amherst College.
