Ellen Laipson is president and chief executive officer of the Stimson Center. She also directs the Southwest Asia project, which focuses on security issues in the Gulf region. Laipson has completed nearly 25 years of government service including vice chair of the National Intelligence Council. In late 2009, President Obama named Laipson to the President's Intelligence Advisory Board. In 2011, Secretary Clinton named Laipson to the new US Department of State's Foreign Affairs Policy Board.
