Emilie Whitman is Program Assistant for Cultural and Professional Exchanges. She is also an ambassador for nonprofit Salaam Cultural Museum (SCM)’s medical and humanitarian missions in the MENA region and has volunteered extensively throughout the refugee camps of Jordan, in SCM’s Children’s Trauma Center for Syrian refugees in Amman, and in humanitarian relief efforts on the island of Lesvos, Greece. She has edited for the Los Angeles Review of Books and managed exhibition and media content for a fine jewelry company in Amman and Dubai. Emilie contributed to The Middle East Journal as an intern for MEI Publications. She holds a B.A. in history from Westmont College and has studied in Israel/Palestine, Jordan, and Turkey; she has 19 years of symphony, chamber, and solo performance experience as a professional harpist.
