Dr. Nihaya Khalaf is a Lecturer in Law at Mosul and Kirkuk University in Iraq; her responsibilities include teaching, tutoring, and supervising research projects at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Khalaf also serves as an Associate Fellow at the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law in Canada. She was awarded a scholarship from the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education to study in the UK, where she completed her Ph.D. thesis on the protection of agricultural biodiversity, plant-related innovations, and the transition to a green economy in Egypt and Iraq. Her research interests are mainly in the field of international environmental and sustainable development law, and plant-related intellectual property rights, with a special focus on law, policy, and implementation. Dr. Khalaf's work has focused on analyzing the integration of the sustainable development principle and law into reform policies and action plans.
