Casey Johnson is a Kabul-based researcher with The Liaison Office, an independent Afghan non-governmental organization. Since May 2008, he has carried out field surveys in Uruzgan, Kandahar, Helmand, and Ghazni provinces. Prior to his work in Afghanistan he conducted research on post-conflict peace building in the self-declared Republic of Somaliland; worked as a freelance writer/photographer in South Asia; drilled oil off the coast of Louisiana, and canned salmon in southeastern Alaska.
